Dark Beings
I have 2 events : 1) My family & I were living in a rural neighborhood. The place was a "residence" created for a garage. There was no plumbing in the bathroom , so there wasn't a working toliet. I actually lived in 2 places like this. This one wasn't in Urbancrest, it was in somewhere in the southern region of Columbus, OH. Anyhow, there was a huge black presence, that took up most of the kitchen, so everyone but my mom only went in there in the daylight. That reminds me of the opening for the show Tales from the Darkside.
2) My daughter & I lived in an apt. in Bucyrus, her room was the front area, that I suppose was supposed to be a dining room. Her room had a closet door that had 9 glass windows in it. I was concerned because she was only 5, but I kept her informed as to why she needed to be careful around it. She kept her toys & clothes in it. One day after kindergarten, we were at the table playing, and talking. We looked at the closet & there was an image inside. We had our roomate cover the door & remove the contents. Eventually we relocated to Jeffersonville, OH. She loved small towns, and till resides in one.

There's a lot you haven't said about the "dark areas".... like what the image was or how you felt when you approached it. When I was very young, I had a dread of the closet in my bedroom. I couldn't fall sleep unless I was sure the door was closed to it. Many nights, I fell asleep watching the doorknob of the closet I was sure would turn because whatever was in there didn't want to be confined. Like so many kids, I seemed to "know" the rules.... whatever was in there hated the light. I fell asleep dreading the feel of its cold, clammy hand on me as I slept and I'm sure I'm not the only one that felt that "thing" in their closet, basement or attic. Historically, these things have been called boggarts, bogeys and boogey men. They still say down South to this day that if you scare someone that you "boogered" them. We all seem to know they're there and we all get talked into believing their figments of our imagination.
