Dream Too Real To Be Fake?

This was a dream I had in 2003 and recorded in my journal at the time. Unfortunately, a few years later I threw it and a few other things away, so I'm going to try to remember it as best I can and be as descriptive as possible.

It started with me in the clearing of a forest at night. Looking around, I notice a rock face somewhere to my right, with a fire reflecting off of some ancient pillars. The illumination from the fire also revealed 3 stone tablets, in a triangle, with one on the edge of the rock face. Feeling like I was supposed to be up there, I try to look at the tablets as best I could from where I stood. Next thing I know the one on the edge falls off, flipping in mid-air, and lands as if it had only slipped off the edge. A few seconds later it crumbles to dust and from it emerges a spirit, which then proceeded to walk into the forest.

As I was watching it, I noticed to the right of where it entered the forest another was wandering around as if lost. Shrugging, I turned around and found a path that wasn't there originally, leading up to wherever the fire was.

Just a few steps away from the beginning of the path, an extreme sense of dread ran through my body, causing me to turn around in the direction I was getting it from. When I stopped, there was that ghost I had noticed earlier walking toward me, only it was more substantial, even to the point that I could see the wrinkles on his face and hands. He was wearing old japanese ceremonial clothing, possibly from the Meiji Era. When he got close enough, he lunged at me and grabbed me by the throat. The impact of his body sent me to the ground and the fall woke me up, though I could still feel the spirit's hands around my throat. Instinctively, I grab at the hands that I couldn't see with my own eyes, and actually grab onto something solid, allowing me to remove the hands.

Now I must say this, I have always been a believer in the supernatural and paranormal. But that night before going to bed I had played a game called Fatal Frame 2:Crimson Butterflies, where you use a camera to exorcise spirits. I normally would have writen the dream off as the game still being on my mind even in my dream state, if it hadn't been for the fact that I had actual physical contact with said spirit. What would anyone else do if they had been in that situation?
