FINALLY AN APPARITION.....continuation of 'Voices'

If you've read 'Voices', this is the same person and about the same house (obviously).

Anyway, the creepy old house my mother and stepfather bought in the middle of my small, southern town we thought was only 60-80 years old, at the most, but my paternal grandfather, who had worked on the house back in the 80s and 70s just for renovations told me that the house had been here a lot longer. Turns out the house is 150+ years old! Like Civil War old! Anyway, this doesn't pertain to that.

Back in the day, (not sure when), the house was owned by a doctor named Lambert that many called 'Ol man Lambert'. The other day, my mother was mopping the area next to the front door just before the kitchen and living room. My stepdad wasn't even home at the time. Me and my brother were on the other room helping with other stuff when all of a sudden we heard this loud scream and my mother hollerin', "Oh my God!" We both ran as fast as we could to see our mother holding the mop in one hand and her chest with the other. The dogs followed us in as we asked what was wrong and all she said was, "There was a man standing there!" At first, we thought she was tryin' to bull shit us but she swore up and down that there was someone there. We weren't sure if she was serious or just playin' around so we acted sorta suspicious so she told us to go back and keep cleaning after showing us how tall and where the man supposedly stood.

Later that night, we would tease her on and off and she swore she would never tell us anything ever again if anything happened to her. But I asked her exactly what the man looked like so she described him as sorta tall, wearing a gray button-up shirt and pointed to the printer we have to describe the color exactly but she said that she couldn't see a face. It was there then gone in a matter of seconds. So, I went home to my dads and told my grandparents what had happened and my grandfather, who usually thinks ghosts and stuff are fake and don't exist, popped up and asked me if the gray shirt was buttoned all the way up and if the very top button was buttoned and I told hime I didn't know, but then he said that Lambert ALWAYS wore a gray shirt with every button buttoned or overalls. I went and told my Mom and it completley freaked her out.

Nice. Could be he was just saying hello. Or maybe she wasn't cleaning things to his satisfaction. Who knows why they show themselves...?
