It was all a dream.. Maybe

One night, I had a wicked dream, and woke up with sleep paralysis. But, the story is weird and seems linked.

It all started out with me, and a random person that I knew. I don't remember who it was, but I know that I knew the person. We were exploring a really old and huge house, when we found the basement. The basement was just..odd. There was a thin and flimsy wooden dock and lava all around. And for some reason I pushed the person into the lava. After that, I looked around some more and found this big woman. She started chasing me through the house with a knife. When she tried swinging at me, she missed and I tried hitting her with a nearby bar or piece of wood, or something I found. It went right through her and I realized she was a ghost. I ran to a window to escape her and jumped out and onto the ground. When I got to the floor, I started to book it. I jumped through yards and over fences to get away. I came upon a long street and ran down it, then it seemed like the entire town I was in was chasing me. But, they were all ghosts, or they seemed dead. And as I ran, I noticed that it was really difficult to run, as if I was running through water. I kept running and ran off to the side, and started to jump through yards again until I came upon the house I started in. I was found by the ghost woman and she chased me into a room, where she cornered me. After she forced me into the corner, I knocked over a bookshelf and it actually hit her and she went down. I went to check and see if she was dead, but she caught my neck and started to squeeze.

That's where the dream seemed to end, because I woke up, but it's like I could feel her hands around my throat and I couldn't breathe or move for a good while. Then I could all of a sudden. I know about sleep paralysis, but this seemed all too real, like a ghost choked me in my dreams.

The mind can work pretty powerfully and it's plausible that you woke up truly convinced you were being choked. I wouldn't necessarily discount that you were possibly being visited by a spirit but if this was just a 1-time occurrence, I'd side more with it being a psychological reaction. Weird dream and hopefully you won't be experiencing anything like that again.

hmm...sometimes you never know. the mind can still make your body think that it's living the dream, when in reality it isn't.

Perhaps your past is harming you- Ghosts seem to represent past in dreams sometimes. Do you have baggage you're hanging onto?

dreams can seem so real sometimes

in dreams when you die or fall in love the feelings are left over in the real world.

i have experienced it myself
