New House, Old Ghosts

When I was three-years-old my family moved into a new house that sat on about twenty acres of land and included a pond. One night, my sister was sleeping on the couch in the living room when she awoke to find what she thought was my mom walking through the room into the kitchen. She got up to go talk to my mom, but when she walked into the kitchen, there was no one there. Not long after that, my dad asked my mom one morning why she was up opening and closing the bedroom doors the night before. Mom, of course, was surprised at his question because she had not been opening and closing the doors. Later, when my dad heard these noises again, he got up to check, but found everybody in their beds. Around this same time, my parents said that I began to talk about a little boy in my play room who would do mean things to me. They said I called him "spooky boy" and I started telling them about how I saw spooky boy swimming in a car in a pond. Well, this freaked everyone out, because not only did we have a pond in our back yard, but I was now telling them, basically that a little boy had drown in it and was now haunting our house!

They said that every time I would go into my play room to play, I would soon come back out crying and saying that spooky boy was being mean to me. I also started talking about an old lady, who wasn't much nicer than spooky boy! I described her as wearing a long dress and wearing her hair up in a bun. I said she was being mean to me, too. My mom told me that once when she asked me what the lady was doing, my voice changed from that of a three-year-old girl into a deep, creepy voice, and I said "Get out of my house!" She said she had never been so scared.

The one and only memory I truly have of this period was, one day, walking down to the pond with my sister. When we got to the edge of the bank, I saw the boy in the pond. I don't remember exactly what I saw, but I do remember pointing it out to my sister, and having her jerk me up as fast as she could and run all the way back to the house!

My mom finally got enough of us being scared and demanded that the spirits leave us alone. She said we were going to have to share the house and learn to get along with each other, because she wasn't going to move! After that, all the activity seemed to quiet down. My parents still live in that house, and to this day, they have never experienced any more of the little boy or the lady. I never forgot that fear, though. I remain fascinated with ghosts and other people's stories, but I still won't go out into the play room at night by myself!

I wouldn't go into a haunted room by myself either.

Whenever i go ghost hunting or whatever, i make sure to have 2 or 3 people with me. I like feeling safe that way.
