Omen in Black
I was at a pool party in celebration of my best friend's twelfth birthday. I had gotten out of the pool to go to the bathroom in the house, and when I came back out I just sat down at the edge of the pool with a girl who I only knew through my best friend. We're very close friends now, but back then I thought she was a little odd (as did everyone else). She had large glasses and bushy hair and thought she was psychic (the latter is still true, actually). We started talking small talk about movies and stuff, but suddenly her eyes went wide and she gasped a little. I asked what was wrong, and she pointed to the street in front of the house. A young, blonde woman in black who I knew to be a relative of one of the neighbors was walking past the house. I guessed that this girl probably knew her from somewhere or something, so I started to say, "Oh, that's so-and-so", but she shook her head. "No," she said. "It's just, I always see a woman dressed in black whenever something bad's about to happen." I went along with it, nodding and saying, "That's interesting." I didn't really think anything of it. I had another friend who was always saying stuff like that, but nothing ever happened.
We had just finished opening presents around seven o' clock when we heard a loud, frightening noise, like two cars crashing. In fact, that's just what it was. A couple of teenaged boys had come flying way-too-wide around the corner into the neighborhood in their jacked-up, muddy truck, and barreled into a man in a small car who was waiting to turn left. No one was seriously hurt, but the man went to the hospital with some minor injuries. My friend said, "Look, I told you do!" I believe her whenever she says that now.
