Possible Past Lives

My best friend had many strange mannerisms throughout her childhood. I can not say that I have ever experienced any of the stories her parents have told about her, but she always has seemed to be a little wise beyond her years. Her father used to say she had past lives, and while don't exactly beileve in reincarnation, there are many stories from her childhood that point towards that. Her vocabulary developed quickly as a child, and at the age of two she was already carrying on conversations with her teachers and mouthing off people like a teenager. She started reading chapter books in kindergarten, and at the age of six picked up Swedish from a babysitter (she had sadly forgotten it in the ten years since, but I remember accusing her of making up the language when we were kids).

Her parents had many strange stories to recount of their youngest daughter's childhood. Up until the age of seven or eight, they would walk into her room and night and hear her mumble in languages which were unknown to them, and sounded somewhat Asian. They could tell they were real languages because of the preciseness with which she spoke them, and the repetition of words that would not be there were she mumbling nonsense. Then, one day when she was four, she told her mother, "When I was a mommy, I never made my kids eat carrots." A seemingly normal thing for a kid to say, were it not for her other odd mannerisms.

When we were older, she started telling me about dreams she had as a kid. She said she used to have dreams from the point of view of a woman in Biblical times. As a kid she had an intense fear of all men, besides her dad and grown brother. She even cried when she was forced to see a male doctor. This led her to believe that she had been beaten by her husband in a past life, or something of the sort. She also gets terrible pains in the bone above her right eye at random times. It isn't like a headache, she says, but it feels as though the bone is broken. Her mother laughs off the idea of a past life, but her father is very exicted by the idea and asks her questions about her dreams and stuff. These happenings almost never happen anymore, now that she is a teenager, but her childhood was definintly something to wonder about.
