The Critter

My buddy and I met up on some backroads in the hills of Tennessee. Our intentions were to have a few brews and talk about what was in store for the rest of the evening. I had my girlfriend with me and my buddy was alone.

I had parked going one direction and my buddy parked in the opposite direction. We had our doors opened. It created a little lighted space. We were standing around in that little space drinking our brew.

I started to hear something. It sounded like a huge dog. It was grunting and growling and you could hear gravel squirting away as it ran. It seemed to be getting closer. Actually, it seemed to be coming right for us. I looked at my buddy and could tell he heard it too. Just as we both said "what the f..." it came into the light and came right for us. It could not have been a dog. It was small and round looking. It really seemed like it was rolling at us. The only way I can describe it is the Critter from the movie Critters.

Thats not all. As I said, he was coming right for us. My buddy and I kicked at it and it grabbed hold of his pant leg. My girlfriend had climbed to the back of my car. I actually hopped onto the ROOF of my car, and my buddy had this thing attached to his pantleg. It was growling and he kicked real hard. It went out of the light and I guess carried on its way.

To this day, I have no idea what that thing was. Absolutely true story.

Wow... never heard of anything like that before other than in the movie. Go to this spot often?

Do you think it was like some kind of rabid armadillo? I've never seen the movie so thats my best guess ;)

armadillos are very rare to nonexistant in this area. Especially in the 80's. The spot is now developed and I do drive by there a lot.

A few guesses have been a rabid racoon or a young boar. It probably was some kind of wild animal, but I cannot be 100% sure what the heck it was. BTW, I am a biologist.

If you live in Kentucky I must say that all sorts of weirds things go on there.

You must have heard of the "Beast Of LBL". LBL stands for the Land Between The Lakes.

There were werewolf type sightings and a family that was camping back in the early 80"s was ripped to shreds at their camp site. They were found by police days later.

Just google, The Beast Of LBL. The story is enough to make you not sleep for a week.

To Hypon Gray - I am a major Crypto fan!!!

Werewolves, bigfoot, thunder hawk, nessie, you name it, I love to read and research all of it!!

Biology is what I really wish that I had went to college for. Instead I am in boring old business.
