The Observer

A few years ago when my husband and I were living in an apartment I sighted my first ghost/apparition. Our apartment was located on the 2nd floor and the back of the apartment overlooked a creek that was over grown with trees. Our place didn't have great lighting so I use to open the blinds in the dining room that looked out onto the creek. One sunny afternoon I was walking from the living room, to the kitchen, through the dining room and caught something out of the corner of my eye. I did a double take out the window and saw a girl ( 11-16 years old) in a 19th century dress with an apron, sitting on one of the high limbs of a tree looking back at me. It startled me so I quickly looked away, but when I looked back she was gone. After that I never opened the blinds again. It wasn't that I was afraid of it, but having the feeling of someone watching me (dead or alive) felt weird. And I thought that I quite possibly hadn't really seen anything.

I've been particularly sensitive to other odd experiences, so even though it startled me, I wasn't all that surprised. My husband on the other hand is more of a skeptic so I didn't mention this to him at the time. A couple years passed and we were getting ready to move and I reflected to him on the time I thought I saw a ghost in the tree. I figured he'd just laugh at me and tell me I was silly, but instead he gave me this funny "What did you just say?" look. So I asked him what the problem was, and he told me that around the same time I had seen it, he also thought he had seen a ghost of a girl in the trees staring back at him. That right there had me convinced that it was not a trick of the eye.
