The smell of Blood and Dirt
Ok, about a month or two ago I was sitting in my room while talking on the phone with one of my best friends. It was dark outside, I think it was about 9 or 10 p.m and we had been talking for hours. Well, he had said something really funny and we were laughing our heads off when I started to smell blood and dirt, and the smell was coming from my vent...creepy right? Well I told him what I smelled and decided to turn on the light, since it was off. The second I turned the light on the smell was gone, like it was never there to begin with. I decided to wait a moment before turning the light back off, but as soon as it went off I could smell it again, so I turned the light back on. This cycle repeated a few more times until I got frustrated and just kept the lights off. After a few minutes in the dark a black shadow figure moved towards me until in was about a foot from my face, and the smell was stronger than ever. It just stared at me and I stared back, for what felt like forever, until it just faded into nothing, the smell fading away with it.

Perhaps you should look into whether your house (building) is constructed on what was once a burial ground. That could explain the smell of dirt. Or maybe something traumatic happened on the property. Sometimes looking in old newspapers can give you an idea of who lived there and if anything major took place there. A little time in the library can open up a lot of information. Just a suggestion.

I think it was just paranoia, you may have smelt it the first time, but then after sence you turn off the lights you thought it was gone, and same thing when it was on, your mind tricks you into these things to make you belive what you saw, just like that shadow, your mind saw a shadow and it was getting closer, and your mind linked the to together to think thats were it came from. Thats just one possible answer.

Another is that it is, A cultist, or a demon worshiper that is dead, it can be a demon, it is possible, but when dealing with the paranormal, your mind goes crazy beacuse of fear and doubt.

I moved out of that house about a year ago, but i think something followed me. I hear someone in boots walk down the attic stairs almost every night(the attic is in my room), and im not the only one. Everyone of my friends that's ever stayed th night hears the same thing. I remember one time one of my really thick books was thrown off the stairs and hit the wall. I was the only one in the room, and my two friends were in the living room, which is in the other side of the house. THey both heard it and came to check on me, thinking i was mad and thrown it or something.
