UFO Sighting in DeKalb, IL

It was a normal day like any other, and I was driving my friend to Wal-mart to purchase a new game for his birthday. We were driving in the town of DeKalb, IL, it was about mid-day. We're travelling very close to his house, down Pleasant street and approaching the intersection of Peace Road. Out of the corner of my eye I see a little drop of mercury, spherical in shape. It had a definite ring in the center of it, and I was very sure this was not an airplane (it was SOLID SILVER). As I was driving, we passed large rows of buildings. Both he and I saw it, but said nothing at first. We did not get a sense of fear, in fact quite the opposite. We had both been exposed to stories of UFO's but never before seen one in person. Later after we arrived at Wal-Mart, we both were convinced we briefly saw a UFO in a tiny corn town.
