Under Pressure
Have any of you ever experienced what is called sleep paralysis?
Well this happened recently, and I had my eyes open, but I couldn't move. I don't know if I was dreaming or something, but all of a sudden I had a heavy feeling on my chest and my hands got stiff and I couldn't breathe or speak. It was getting worse, until suddenly the pressure came off and I got up and told my mom. I started tearing up, but didn't bawl. Hope it doesn't happen again. What a horrible feeling.

You're not alone. This happens to many people, and it has happened to me, too. It is perfectly normal. The first time it happened to me, I was sixteen and had been suffering all summer from horrible nightmares, so when I woke up like this one morning, I was scared out of my mind! It's ok, though. When I learned what it was and that it wasn't something trying to kill me or scare me to death, I felt a lot better.
