Wake Up Call
I have a DVD rack next to my bed. My husband started over the road truck driving so he was gone nights. I was sleeping when in the middle of the night I was awoken by a SLAM. I sat up and looked on the floor, we were redoing our floors so all there is, is plywood on the floor. There were movies on the floor, that were not there when I went to bed. That was the noise that woke me up. It sounded like someone took the movie and slammed it on the floor.
I have tried to recreate the situation and I have not been able to.

You said in the story that you were remodeling? I've heard that ghosts become more active when you start to change the pre-existing environment. Maybe, it was angry that you were making changes?

Keep an eye on strange things in the house. xXSup3rXNaTuraLXx is right that disturbing the house's condition often incites/energizes spirits more.
